Depressing e-mail from a Reds' fan

Got this in the ol' inbox this morning:

I’ll say this after watching your Astros for 3 days, Jason Smith ain’t a big league hitter. Berkman is frustrated. Tejada is the only one hitting. Bourn’s OBP will not top .330 at the end of the year. Your bullpen will be where leads go to die and many of your starters will feel like Aaron Harang did the other night.

Of course my Reds have four regulars hitting on the interstate and one under it. Thank the almighty for Micah Owings. It is sad that a pitcher is the best pinch hitter and right handed power bat we have. I can’t take much more of Edwin Encarnacion and Brandon Phillips long ugly swings. They are killing us."

This is hard to refute. So I won't.

Correction........Jason Smith and Jason Michaels BOTH aren't big league hitters. Kaz Matsui is a band-aid. Valverde needs to stop worrying about looking a certain way on the mound and more about getting guys out. Bourn spits more than any man i've ever seen in my life. And he still hasn't developed a very good eye (although better than last year). Hunter Pence still chases the low/outside breaking pitches far too often. I don't know what to say about Berkman and Lee, other than that Coop should maybe flip their spots in the order just for the hell of it to see if they can ignite something. Blum can't hit when it counts (how many times has he been up with the bases loaded this year - 3 already? And all 3 were very weak outs if I recall?).

Who would have thought that on April 20, our Starting Rotation would be the only thing keep us COMPETITIVE so far?????? Not this guy.

This team might need a blow up already. A "Bull Durham"esque type lolligaggers speech might help. It sure as Hell couldn't hurt.
