Tuesday Morning Hot Links

*I mean.

*The thing is...

*Okay so the Astros won again. It's their 11th straight win and a franchise-record 11th straight road win. The Astros' 14-game lead in the AL West is the largest divisional lead in club history (the 1998 Astros won the NL Central by 13 games). The Astros have outscored their opponents 89-39 in the last 11 games.

The 1998 Astros (102-60) were 35-23 after 58 games.

*Mike Axisa notes that the 2017 Astros join the 2001 Mariners and the 1998 Yankees as the only teams to win 42 of their first 58 games.

*It's the Astros' longest win streak since they won 12 straight from August 27-September 8, 2004.

Mike Fiers, who threw 5IP, 7H/2ER, 4K:1BB:
It feels like we're just going out there and having fun. This game should be fun, and it's a lot easier when you're winning.

Ian Kennedy:
That lineup doesn't really give you a break, top to bottom, so once you get behind 2-0, you almost rather face the next hitter.

The key inning to the win was the 6th. Here's how it went down:
Hosmer: Single
Perez: Single
(Guduan replaces Fiers)
Moustakas: Lineout to 3rd
Moss: Strikeout
(Hoyt replaces Guduan)
Escobar: Strikeout

*Yulieski Gurriel hit his 6th homer of the season. Brian McCann hit his first home run since coming off the DL.

*Marwin Gonzalez left the game with a hand injury and is day-to-day.

*ESPN: The Astros' 7-8-9 hitters have an SLG 40 points higher than the average MLB team's 3-4-5 hitters.

*New Astros beat writer Richard Justice can't shut up about the Astros. Here are Ten Reasons the Astros are built for the postseason.

*KC Star's Sam Mellinger: The Astros, Royals, and the value of losing.

*Joe Musgrove will throw a bullpen session on Thursday, meaning he could pitch on Sunday if everything goes right.

*Derek Fisher was the PCL's Player of the Week.

*David Paulino will start tonight against the just-promoted Jake Junis, the Royals' #5 prospect.

*A Dodgers' affiliate is hosting "Hourglass Appreciation Night," and it doesn't have anything to do with sand. Note: This is dumb.
