Sunday Morning Hot Links

The Astros pissed away opportunity after opportunity and lost to the Rangers 3-2 on two Lucroy home runs. Oh yeah, Carlos Beltran had three hits, so good Trade Deadlining, guys. Lucas Harrell walked five (including one with the bases loaded) and the Astros left seven men on base in the first three innings alone. The Astros were 1x8 with runners in scoring position and left ten on base total. George Springer was 0x5 with 3Ks. Alex Bregman, though, was 3x5 with an RBI.

Bregman:
I would've traded that for a win, any day of the week, but it was nice to get a few balls in. Felt good.

Tony Sipp did Tony Sipp things, allowing a run in 0.2IP.

Hinch:
Certainly on our end we had a chance in the first...chance in the second, chance in the third, chance in the fifth, chance in the ninth. That's a lot of innings to come away with a couple one-run innings. Credit to their guys for walking the fine line, but certainly, we felt like we could have gotten more out of tonight.

The Astros are 6.5 GB of the Rangers, and only a half-game up on the Mariners for 2nd place. The Orioles, Blue Jays and Red Sox all lost, but the Tigers won, the Astros are 4.0 GB for WC2, 5.5 GB for WC1.

*FanGraphs now gives the Astros a less-than-10% chance of winning the division and a 21.4% chance to make the playoffs. The last two weeks have been dumb.

*Jose Altuve was ejected from the game for the first time in his career. Hinch:
He never argues unless he's right, and he was right, in my opinion.

*The Astros nailed two Rangers at the plate last night.

*Jake Kaplan talks Joe Musgrove's ceiling.

*Orbit pulled a Matt Bush and ran over one of the members of the Shooting Stars, delaying the game. The girl is reportedly okay. And buddy if that ain't a metaphor for the 2016 season then I don't know what is.

*Check this out. This is Paul Clemens, pitching for San Diego.
