With the 1st pick of the 37th Round (1097th overall), the Astros select 5'11" 190lb CF Josh Melendez from the University of New Mexico.
Melendez hit .329/.431/.480 with 37 walks and 13 steals. As a junior in 2012, he was only caught stealing one time, including a streak of 21 straight attempts without getting caught.
He's described as being an athletic, above average runner with a good first step and an above average arm in center.
