With the 1st pick of the 12th Round (347th overall), the Astros select 6'4" 260lb Chase McDonald, a Junior right-handed hitting 1B from East Carolina.
McDonald hit .299/.398/.519 for the ECU Pirates, with 11 HR and 46 RBI in 187 AB this season. College Baseball Daily ranked him #40 in their preseason Top 100 College Players before this season, and he was named C-USA Hitter of the Week on May 6.
