PreStros Morning Report: May 7

Oklahoma City (19-12)

Oklahoma City improved to 19-12 after Jarred Cosart and the RedHawks dominated Tacoma (Seattle's Triple-A team) 6-1. Jarred Cosart threw 5.2IP, allowing 6H/0ER with ten strikeouts and three walks. Interestingly enough, Cosart had not struck out ten batters since 2010 when he did it twice for Low-A Lakewood. 61 of his 101 pitches were for strikes. Josh Zeid struck out two of the four batters he faced, while Rhiner Cruz threw a perfect 8th inning. Kevin Chapman allowed the lone Rainiers run on a Carlos Peguero homer. Mike Zunino and Carlos Peguero (whom I believe are Seattle's top two prospects, at least at Triple-A, were each 3x4.)

Jake Elmore led the way with a 3x4 night (a homer away from the cycle). Brett Wallace was 2x4 with a home run and 3RBI and Che-Hsuan Lin was 2x3 with a double and a stolen base. In his last ten games, Brett Wallace is hitting .368/.442/.737 with 4HR, 11K:4BB.

Man of the Match: Jarred Cosart. Just please don't get hurt, and we'll see you soon...

Corpus (19-13)

Corpus jumped out to a 4-run lead in the top of the 1st at San Antonio, but it didn't exactly hold. The Missions scored seven in the 1st and 2nd innings and cruised to a 10-5 win. Matt Heidenreich allowed 7H/6ER, 0K:1BB in 1.1IP for his 3rd loss of the season. Andrew Robinson allowed two of Heidenreich's runs and an unearned run of his own. Ruben Alaniz threw 3IP, 5H/2ER in relief. Pat Urckfitz allowed 3H/1ER and Jorge De Leon threw the only scoreless outing of the game, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Austin Wates was 2x3 for the only multi-hit game. George Springer was 1x3 with a walk, two stolen bases, and two runs scored. Domingo Santana was also 1x3 with a walk and an RBI. Enrique Hernandez and Jonathan Meyer each had 2RBI.

Man of the Match: George Springer.

Lancaster (18-13)

Brutal loss for the JetHawks last night as they clawed back from a 4-2 deficit in the 6th to go up on Lake Elsinore 5-4, but allowed three in the 8th and one in the 9th to lose 8-5. David Rollins allowed 5H/4R (1ER), 6K:0BB. Tyson Perez took the loss, allowing 6H/3R (2ER), 1K:-BB. Kenny Long gave up an unearned run in 1.2IP. So yeah, five unearned runs from two Carlos Perdomo errors and a Tyler Heineman passed ball.

Andrew Aplin was 2x5 with a solo homer, Tyler Heineman was 2x5 with a double and an RBI for your 2-hit games. Chris Epps was 0x2 but with three walks and a stolen base. Preston Tucker was 1x4 with a walk, double, and an RBI. The two heavy-hitters at the top of the lineup - Nolan Fontana and MP Cokinos - were a combined 0x10, and the JetHawks as a whole were 1x11 with RISP and had 12 LOBsters.

Man of the Match: Chris Epps.
