Brett Wallace getting more reps at 3B?

In Christina Kahrl's excellent piece on the Astros moving to the AL, we find out a number of things regarding the Astros' plans, such as:

*Even with Matt Dominguez at 3B, Brett Wallace is going to see some time there.
*Chris Carter will get some LF experience.
*Nate Freiman really needs to hit to get a chance of staying with the Astros.
*There's going to be a lot of movement between Houston and OKC, especially regarding the pitching staff.

I really lose a little faith in Luhnow when I read about Wallace at third. It was an experiment with a resoundingly negative outcome early in his career, only to be retried last year with predictably negative results. Francona rightly couldn't stomach the idea, and mercilessly let it die. Wallace is not a left fielder; he is not a third baseman; his glove fits at first and DH. This is not fantasy baseball.

Excuse me, not Francona, DeFrancesco. My bad.

I think this move is about insurance on Dominguez and it will give D some days off and keep Wallace hitting in every game.

Wonder how the pitchers will feel with Wallace at 3B rather than Dominguez......he will really have to rake if he's to justify what he'll give back on defense, and if he's hitting that well he can play at 1B or DH....

Excuse my skepticism (and that of every scout since his days back at ASU), but I've seen him play 3B....has the mobility of a parked car. After two painful years of Chris Johnson and Matt Downs, the pitchers deserve better.....
