Back in October, before Astros-to-AL and the sale of the team were official, I sent this letter to Drayton McLane, Bud Selig, and Jim Crane. Never heard anything back from Crane or Selig, but about a week later, I received this in the mail from Temple, TX:
If you can't read the text, it says:
"Thank you for being a terrific fan of the Astros. I agree with you, but I probably will not have any say in the decision to move the Astros to the AL West. Obviously, there is an imbalance of 16 teams in the National League, and only 14 in the American League and this is a problem that they have been working to resolve for several years. I hope that they will choose another scenario, but we will just have to see what happens.
Thanks for your support and we are grateful to have you cheering for the ASTROS!"
Make of that what you will, but credit where credit is due - at least Drayton (or his secretary) took the time to respond.

Like or dislike Drayton as a baseball team owner...he was a quality guy and that type of personal touch reflects the kind of cloth from which he was cut...generous (perhaps to a fault)
Nice letter, thanks for sharing. I must have hit McLane and his secretary on the wrong day back in 2007. I sent him a letter about the coverage of Biggio's 3000th hit. I was surprised when I got a reply. I was even more surprised when the only thing in the envelope was a picture card of BRAD AUSMUS.
