The Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin
took a look at the Rays' catching situation, and didn't exactly like what he saw. Rays catchers are currently hitting .250/.339/.346. So how about acquiring better catcher? Chris Snyder is listed as a "lower-tier" possibility...

The Astros haven't had a decent catcher since Alan Ashby. Why would the Rays even wanna touch the current Brad Ausmus clones? I say unload Snyder AND Castro. They both look overwhelmed and under-qualified. And for those who defend Brad Ausmus --- NO HE WAS NOT A GOOD BALLPLAYER WHATSOEVER!!!
I would unload most Astros players for a haul of cheap beer and a mid-grade steak from Shula's. For our catchers, I'll settle for less -- how about a a hot dog and autographed picture of a real ballplayer, like Even Longoria.
The ignorance is strong in this thread.
Looks like some of our favorite Chronicle commenters found your site!
Yeah, I am strongly in favor of replacing the "prove you're not a robot" test with a "prove you're not a dumbass" one.

Reuben I wholeheartedly agree with your idea. I'm at a loss for words after reading those comments up there.
I think Castro will be a above average catcher, I like that is patient as a hitter, I think he will end up hitting .270 with 10-15+ HR's a year and playing good defense. He was out all of last year, so give him some freaking time, plus he was a rushed a little to the majors, felt he needed a year at AAA.
I agree that Castro was rushed. With it known that McLane was looking to sell the Astros, I'm sure Ed Wade did all he could to save his job.
