Morning Update

Here's what you missed while I was watching Vampire Diaries on Netflix yesterday evening and overnight:

Royals Assistant GM J.J. Picollo interviewed for the GM position last night.

The Astros will pay half of Carlos Lee and Brett Myers' salary in a deal, but want a prospective team to take all of Wandy's salary.

Andrew Friedman's rejection of the Astros "is in no way a reflection on the Houston organization," say the Rays.

Alyson Footer explains, in detail, what the Astros are looking for in a GM.

I've never understood the issue about Wandy's salary as it is certainly commensurate with his ability. If you were going to get him in free agency, you would pay his salary or more. Thing is, you can't get him in free agency, so pony up something valuable.

I don't know where this idea started, probably by dumbass national writers, but Wandy is no over-priced mediocre pitcher. He may not be elite, but he is way above average, and pretty durable at that.

I agree re. Wandy's salary being fair, but if Crane can get a better prospect for Wandy by chipping in a few mil, he better do it. If he appears to be dumping as much Lee/Myers/Wandy salary as he can for minor league roster-filler types, he will really piss off me and the fanbase in general.
