Buster Olney just tweeted:
Am told that the playoff fields will expand IMMEDIATELY, for 2012. Five teams in each league, with a one-game playoff between two wildcards.
Uh, so for that to happen, the Astros would move to the American League in time for next season. Looks like Carlos Lee will get to DH, after all. More to follow...
UPDATE: Hold on. That may not be right. They could possibly make that move without moving the Astros just yet.

Well, exactly, because they've NEVER "needed" to even the leagues in order to add two more Wild Cards. Who the hell cares if your odds are "only" 5 in 16? Any NL team who felt they were at a disadvantage from those odds should have been given the option to move to the AL.
going to be hard to stay up and watch a whole game as an astros fan considering most of there games will be on the west coast starting at 9 30pm still dont understand all this mess about the AL guess if seligh didnt own the brewers it would have gone differently oh well whatever he wants i guess
It's rather fortuitous they won't be fielding a team worth watching then. No need to go to bed late! There's one positive.
That sounded like a typical Houston bandwagon fan.
So I'm a bandwagon fan because I'm not happy with the state of the team? You're ignoring the fact that I'm still following the team despite their last decent season being in '06. Sweet logic there my friend.
