Wade, on command vs. control

Steve Campbell has an article on Jose Valdez, hard-throwing reliever. What stood out was a little philosophy dropped by Ed Wade:

“We interchange the words command and control, and they’re not the same thing. Control is the ability to throw a strike. Command is the ability to throw a strike where you want to throw it and when you want to throw it. The way I see Valdez right now, he’s got good control. If he ever gets good command, he’ll pitch until 48 with the stuff that he’s got.”
