Round Rock

Hey, there's a win. Round Rock withstood a late Oklahoma City charge for a 3-2 win. Andy Van Hekken threw 8IP, 6H/1ER, 3K:1BB and Gary Majewski almost blew it, allowing a 9th inning homer. Brian Bogusevic, Tommy Everidge, and Yordany Ramirez provided the RBI, with Drew Locke getting the only extra-base hit.

Corpus

Before this all started, the Hooks were 36-34. After getting swept by Tulsa following last night's 12-6 loss, the Hooks dropped to 36-49 with a 16-game losing streak. Doug Arguello threw 3.2IP, 6H/7R (1ER), 4K:4BB, while Nelson Payano allowed 3H/3ER, 0K:2BB in 0.1IP. Jeilen Peguero threw three scoreless innings (3H, 5K), and Evan Englebrook allowed 1ER (2R) in 2IP. Tulsa was actually up 12-0 going into the bottom of the 9th, and the Hooks were able to cut that lead in half. Koby Clemens was 2x5 with 2RBI, Jonathan Fixler was 1x2 with 2RBI, and Jon Gaston hit a solo homer. If the Hooks lose tonight's series opener against NW Arkansas, they're giving out free tickets to Monday or Tuesday's game. Not kidding.

Lancaster

How do you like this: Not only did Lancaster beat Inland Empire 5-3, but Leandro Cespedes got his first win of the year, AND he struck out a rehabbing Manny Ramirez twice. (Though a rehabbing Brad Ausmus went 3x3). Cespedes threw 6IP, 8H/2ER, 6K:0BB, Shane Wolf threw 2IP, 1H/0ER, 0K:1BB. David Berner (0.2IP, 1H/1ER, 1K:2BB) and Brian Wabick (0.1IP, 0H/0ER) closed the 9th, with Wabick getting his first save after being lifted with runners on 1st and 2nd. The JetHawks won despite going 2x14 w/RISP, and Federico Hernandez was 2x4 (double and triple) for your only multi-hit game. Lee Cruz (2RBI), Albert Cartwright (1RBI), Brandon Barnes (1RBI), and Andy Simunic (1RBI) provided your runs. Albert Carwright stole his 21st and 22nd bases, while Jay Austin stole his 35th base of the year.

Lexington

Down 5-0, the Legends battled back to tie it up, but West Virginia scored the go-ahead run in the 8th for a 6-5 win over Lexington. Brad Dydalewicz allowed 4H/5ER, 2K:4BB, 3HBP in 3.1IP. Brenden Stines threw 2.2 scoreless IPs (2H, 1K:1BB), and Wander Alvino took the loss with 2H/1ER, 2K:1BB in 2IP. J.D. Martinez again headlined the offense, with a 3x4 night including a double and a homer. His OPS is now 1.006. Kody Hinze hit a two-run homer, and Our Boy Aaron Bray (getting the start at 3B) provided your other extra-base hit with a double. Jose Altuve and Brian Kemp had the other two RBI.

Tri-City

Back and forth game in Staten Island, with the SI Yankees taking a 4-0 lead, Tri-City tying up up, and then Staten Island scoring the last four runs for an 8-4 win. Bobby Doran threw 4.2IP, 8H/5R (4ER), 1K:1BB. Alex Sogard got four straight outs, while Chris Blazek allowed 1H/2ER, 0K:1BB in 0.2IP, breaking a 9.1IP scoreless streak to begin the season. Joan Belliard allowed a solo homer in 1.1IP. Ben Orloff, Tyler Burnett, Daniel Adamson (RBI, BB) and Renzo Tello had two hits each, and Oscar Figueroa, Adamson, and Bailey provided the RBI.

Greeneville

A night after putting up 14 on Pulaski (14-12 win), Greeneville allowed 15 runs to Bluefield in a 15-5 loss. Greeneville, despite being 9-10 (2-8 in their last ten), have been outscored 89-121. Ruben Alaniz allowed 12H/10ER, 2K:2BB in 2.2IP and B.J. Hagen gave up 6H/4ER in 1.1IP before Justin Harper held Bluefield to 1H/3BB (0ER) in 3IP. Jamaine Cotton gave up a solo homer and struck out the side in the 8th. The Gastros did get 12 hits - two each from Jhonny Medrano (double, 2BB), Marcus Nidiffer (HR), Telvin Nash, and Ricardo Heredia. Richardo Garcia also drew two walks. Telvin Nash has six hits in his last four games (6x14) with 2HR, 3RBI, 4K:4BB, and Jhonny Medrano is hitting .351 on the season.

GCL Astros

The GCL Astros added to the butt-whoopins of the day in a 14-3 loss to the GCL Mets. The GCL Astros used seven pitchers on the night, and starter Francis Ramirez allowed 3ER on 5H, 4K:3BB in 5IP. Preston Gomez allowed 5H/6ER, 0K:1BB in 0.1IP, and Rafael Feliz gave up 3H/4ER, 0K:2BB in 0.1IP. Josh Magee and Rafael Valenzuela (2B, 3B, RBI) had two hits each. Jose Monzon hit a solo homer.
